So Many Books
After what feels like forever (four months really) I’ve finally gotten back into the groove of things. Most especially back to reading regularly. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book without feeling guilty for neglecting my studies, but now that I’m a Linguistics major, guilt’s gone!
And it seems like everything I’ve read I love. Well maybe not everything but I’ll get to that later. I’ve mainly picked up Young Adult books. I have no idea why but I just love the simplistic complexity you often find in YA novels. To tell the truth I’m not a big dystopian fan, even though I’ve read some, I just prefer reading something I can relate to. Also maybe the fact that I spent my high school days reading classics has somehow influenced my current preference. Trying to make up!
Here’s a list of some of the books I’ve read so far:
The Perks of Being A Wallflower 5/5
If I Stay 3.5/5
Where She Went 4/5
The Hunger Games Trilogy 4/5, 3/5, 3.5/5
Jellicoe Road 4/5
Thirteen Reasons Why 4/5
The Great Gatsby 5/5
The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight 4.5/5
The Fault in Our Stars 5/5
Wanderlove 2/5
I’ve just started reading Divergent and am curious as to whether or not I’m going to like it. I’m still not sure, but it’s interesting enough.
In my Intro to Lit. class the Professor gave us the choice of either presenting a book, play, or poem as long as they weren’t well known classics. I love plays but I find that I enjoy them more as entertainment and not as something to be studied and analyzed. And it’s no secret that I dislike poetry, I just don’t get it. Sure I’m into some of the more modern stuff but not enough to risk 10 percent of my grade!
So I chose John Green’s latest masterpiece The Fault in Our Stars. I’m a huge fan and knew this was the type of novel my Professor would just LOVE! I did my presentation and am happy to say that because of my originality (and because I was the only one prepared to go first) I got not only the full 10 percent but also extra bonus points!
Thank you John for helping get that grade!
